  • Understanding our unique psychological influences, including our traumas, coping mechanisms, role models and genetic predispositions is critical for navigating the humaness within each of us. This is key to decoding the manual on how to sucessfully transform our knowledge and skills into consistent, sustainable, authentic action.

  • Mastering the simple holistic wellness habits that build our foundation consistently is more effective than constructing instensely for a short-lived period. If we want to live both a long & quality life, our daily practices need to embody the sentiment.

  • To build something intentionally & lasting in our modern world requires a rebelion; Our attention has to orient inward, our speed needs to slow, and we have to welcome what it means to be a human having a physical, mental and spiritual experience.

ETHOS

To Embrace A Flourishing & Full Life

Positive psychology and functional medicine teach us that health is not only the absence of mental and physical illness or disease, but the ability to demonstrate resilience and thrive, not just survive. We cultivate and reinforce skills that develop human flourishing for a whole, high-quality life at every stage. Aging is inevitable. We’re not aiming to avoid growing older. We’re building a mind, body, and spirit home that allows us to feel our best, cultivate a sense of purpose, meaning, and accomplishment, and create a positive impact in the world.

Healing The Root Cause(s) of Imbalance

Healing the root causes of imbalance and dysfunction at any level is a pillar of functional medicine. Whole-person wellbeing requires that all systems function optimally, from the organelles inside a single cell to the larger systems in the body housing major organs. Everything matters.

We’re going beyond the surface to uncover the antecedents, triggers, and mediators of symptoms. Band-Aids are not a blueprint for well-being. Sometimes pharmacological drugs, medication, and interventions are necessary for immediate action, but the presence of symptoms is a signal. Mystery symptoms can be frustrating, debilitatingly painful, and downright annoying, but they aren’t random. They are valuable messengers, sounding the alarm at deeper-rooted issues occurring behind the scenes. Our physical body and aura are manifestations and a mirror to our inner world. Still, we need the awareness to look beyond the surface and the knowledge and skills to navigate what we discover.

The Interconnectedness of Human Nature & Humans + Nature

We’re born with a body inside of another, both figuratively and literally. We’re grown and nourished by our mother and enter a whole new world where Mother Nature reigns with her landscapes and bodies of water.
There is no shortage of intrinsic intelligence among these entities. Our bodies know how to heal themselves when offered the right environment and resources, and conversely, the environment can restore itself if given the opportunity.

We cannot heal ourselves isolated from the natural world, nor can we heal an ailment by studying it segregated from the whole self.

Food As Medicine & Food First Approach

Food is everything, but it’s not the only thing. We let food be thy medicine to heal from the inside out. Our approach prioritizes consuming whole foods, predominantly plant-based (as much as possible), nutrient-dense, eating intuitively, sustainably, and locally (as much as possible).

Food is our fuel—the foundation of our dream home, our first line of defense & offense. No exercise routine, supplement regimen, or clinical treatment can replace the fundamental need and function of a high-quality diet. With that, we learn to practice balance and exercise autonomy with loving-kindness so that we can confidently choose when, where, and how we want to indulge and live without restriction, but always with respect for the life our body allows us to experience.

Movement Is Therapeutic

Emotions are energy in motion. Over our lifetime, unresolved traumas and stress are held in the body. Conventional talk therapy and its neighboring modalities can be beneficial to validate emotions and find new perspectives; however, we still need avenues and pathways to release the tension physiologically. Somatic exercises, especially those that encourage slowing in conjunction with moving mindfully, allow the body to shift into a parasympathic state. Recalibrating our automatic operating systems, such as our nervous system, through intentionally shifting how we move through our daily life lets the body learn a new normal. The simple act of slowing down in micro and macro ways reinforces our body’s intelligence systems that can rest, digest, and respond to external stimuli in a regulated fashion.

Eat, Move, Live & Consume w/ Reverence.

Don’t just not harm, help & serve.

Generally, what is beneficial for human health is also good for the environment and vice versa.

Plant-based diets and non-toxic, sustainable living save resources and beings all along the food chain and across species.

Minimalism isn’t about having less, it’s about choosing what you have thoughtfully and creating space to appreciate more fully. Living simply lets us remember what is essential and express gratitude for what we already have, should we hope and desire more.
